The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) specializing in Psychiatric or Mental/Behavioral Health is accountable for implementing the nursing process and delivering patient care within the psychiatric unit of a healthcare facility or mental health institution, as well as in community environments.


The LPN is expected to demonstrate effective clinical judgment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse while collaborating with the healthcare team.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage all aspects related to medication administration, including ordering, blood draws, nursing assessments, and patient care in accordance with state regulations.

2. Responsible for processing medication orders, transcribing to the Medication Administration Record (MAR), administering medications, and maintaining the Medication Room to agency standards.

3. Conduct vital sign assessments, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and weight, along with blood draws as per program guidelines.

4. Collect urine samples as necessary, ensuring compliance with nursing standards and completing all required documentation.

5. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of clinical records through timely completion of all necessary paperwork.

6. Perform additional duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Valid LPN license in the state of practice.

2. Minimum of 1 year experience in a psychiatric care environment.

3. Adherence to all relevant professional standards of practice.

4. Completion of Amergis' Competency program as applicable.

5. Current CPR certification if required.

6. TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as applicable.

7. Current Health certificate in accordance with contract or state regulations.

8. Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.

9. Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to the job site.

10. Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.

11. Strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.

12. Computer proficiency is required.

13. Must be at least 18 years of age.
