Position Overview

Salary: $35 - $40 per hour DOE

Bonita House, Inc. (BHI) is a reputable nonprofit organization dedicated to mental health services, operating across multiple locations with a substantial budget. Since its inception in 1971, BHI has been committed to providing comprehensive Medi-Cal services to adults facing serious mental health and substance use challenges.

The Supported Independent Living (SIL) program, established in 1976, focuses on transitional and permanent housing solutions, along with community-based case management for adults in recovery. This program aims to foster small, supportive communities where individuals can enhance their independent living skills while receiving necessary support. The SIL program is backed by a multidisciplinary team that assists Medi-Cal recipients with Serious Mental Illness.

Role Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) plays a crucial role in overseeing client treatment and the provision of clinical services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as a vocational nurse, with a preference for candidates possessing at least two years of experience in mental health.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to meet program needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Compliance with the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
  • Valid California Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for client transportation.
  • Proficient writing skills for documentation purposes.
  • Adept at managing competing demands on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of mental health clients receiving injectable medications, ensuring adherence to treatment protocols.
  • Assist in the management of Clozapine, including monitoring vital signs and lab results.
  • Track and schedule follow-up injections for clients.
  • Document client visits and report any abnormal findings to the prescribing provider.
  • Support triage and clinic operations by collaborating with prescribing providers.
  • Facilitate Telemedicine services, including room setup and client preparation.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure timely reordering.
  • Address prescription challenges, including prior authorizations and refill requests.
  • Provide administrative support as needed, including obtaining medical records and managing documentation.
  • Assist in obtaining informed consent and updating client information.
  • Manage client inquiries and escalate issues to the prescribing provider as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
