About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety and Risk Management Specialist to join our team at Arkansas Electric. As a key member of our Safety Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, members, and the general public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Safety Audits and Risk Assessments: Identify potential hazards and risks in the workplace and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Develop and Implement Safety Policies and Procedures: Create and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide Training and Support: Develop and deliver training programs to employees on safety procedures and protocols, and provide support and guidance to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with other departments, including Operations, Maintenance, and Human Resources, to ensure a comprehensive approach to safety and risk management.
  • Monitor and Analyze Safety Data: Collect and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and develop strategies to reduce incidents and injuries.
  • Develop and Implement Corrective Actions: Identify and implement corrective actions to address safety concerns and reduce the risk of incidents and injuries.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Regulatory Requirements: Stay current with changing regulatory requirements and industry standards, and ensure that our safety policies and procedures are compliant.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in safety and risk management
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30-hour certification
  • Board of Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) accreditation
  • Utility industry experience
