Position Overview:
The Safety and Security Specialist is responsible for upholding and enforcing all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies within their designated authority.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular foot patrols across assigned locations, remaining vigilant for any disturbances, safety hazards, traffic violations, suspicious activities, or other irregularities.
- Assist visitors, staff, and student employees with their inquiries and needs.
- Perform thorough security and safety inspections of buildings.
- Address complaints and carry out necessary investigations.
- Provide transportation services as required.
- Investigate incidents involving vehicles on the premises.
- Issue visitor passes and temporary parking permits.
- Manage main entrance duties effectively.
- Support staff in managing disturbances.
- Prepare detailed reports on accidents and other incidents as necessary.
- Oversee the recruitment, selection, and training of security personnel.
- Engage in the development and enforcement of safety and fire prevention protocols.
- Conduct daily briefings with security personnel to review assignments and procedures.
- Provide comprehensive reports and updates to relevant staff members.
- Ensure all security equipment is maintained in optimal condition.
- Facilitate vehicle checks for incoming and outgoing traffic.
- Adhere to established property control policies and procedures.
- Work towards achieving performance standards and goals.
- Comply with all regulatory guidelines and organizational policies.
- Promote a safe and healthy workplace environment.
- Assist students in enhancing their employability through ongoing support and guidance.
- Model and mentor appropriate career success standards.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions as required.
- Maintain student security and accountability during training and recreational activities by actively monitoring designated areas.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively.
- Proficiency in basic computer functions, including email and internet applications.
- Familiarity with security and surveillance equipment.
- Understanding of fundamental security protocols.
- Strong judgment and observational skills.
Experience:
A minimum of two years in security, law enforcement, military, or a related field is required. Experience in safety training is preferred, along with at least one year in a residential environment and familiarity with youth programs.
Education:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's Degree is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position include the ability to sit, stand, and walk regularly, as well as the capacity to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Physical stamina is necessary to maintain an active presence throughout the work shift.
