Overview

HF Sinclair Midstream is actively seeking a dedicated Field Technician to join our team. This role is essential for acquiring the necessary expertise in the transportation and procurement of crude oil from producers. The technician will serve as the primary purchaser of crude oil at designated locations, assessing quality and quantity while ensuring efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are considered essential:

  • Utilize specialized equipment, known as pigs, for cleaning, maintenance, and inspection of existing pipelines.
  • Conduct accurate gauging of crude oil at assigned locations to maintain precise inventory records.
  • Execute custody transfer operations in compliance with established company protocols for various crude oils.
  • Prepare documentation reflecting measurements, quality, and pricing of purchased crude oil.
  • Act as a point of contact for producer representatives in the field.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment, including meter calibrations.
  • Engage in non-standard maintenance tasks as required.
  • May be tasked with sampling products at terminals or pump stations.
  • Oversee meter proving operations as a company representative.
  • Resolve measurement and quality disputes on behalf of the company.
  • Learn additional responsibilities related to crude oil gathering operations.
  • Provide relief support for other Field Technicians as needed once fully trained.
Qualifications

A minimum of two years of general work experience is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Three years of relevant experience in the Oil and Gas sector, military fuel management, or natural gas pipeline operations is preferred.

Educational Requirements

A High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in mathematical calculations and measurement techniques is crucial. A strong understanding of safety protocols and mechanical systems is required. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position involves purchasing crude oil with significant financial responsibility, requiring no secondary approval for transactions.

Work Environment

This role is field-based, necessitating approximately 60% travel. The technician will work outdoors in various conditions, including exposure to chemicals and heavy machinery. Flexibility for shift work and on-call availability is required.

Physical Demands

The job requires physical stamina, including standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and climbing. The ability to operate company vehicles safely is essential.
