Description

As an Equipment Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the upkeep and repair of essential machinery and tools used in park and open space maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe working environment during all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Adjust and maintain the Height of Cut (HOC) on reel equipment and perform repairs on lawnmowers, tractors, and other small engines.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and maintenance on a range of light to heavy-duty equipment.
  • Perform regular tune-ups, oil changes, and general servicing of machinery.
  • Establish and follow a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment.
  • Develop maintenance procedures based on manufacturer specifications.
  • Make service calls to job sites for troubleshooting and on-site repairs.
  • Repair and maintain various power tools and landscaping equipment.
  • Conduct repairs on gasoline and diesel engines, including clutches and transmissions.
  • Fabricate and repair equipment as needed, including welding and metalworking tasks.
  • Maintain utility trailers and ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance performed.
  • Assist in the procurement of necessary parts and supplies for equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate with other teams as required.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED with specialized training in mechanics and a minimum of three years of experience in the maintenance of automotive, agricultural, or construction equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with tools and materials used in equipment repair.
  • Strong understanding of engine mechanics and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to operate various hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Competence in welding and metalworking.
  • Capability to read and interpret technical schematics.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays.

Licensing and Certifications:
Valid state-issued driver's license is required. Forklift Certification must be obtained within one year of hire.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position requires frequent physical activity, including walking, kneeling, and lifting. The employee will work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
