The Senior Asset Engineer position is based in Hobbs, New Mexico, and is responsible for providing technical expertise to ensure the safe, dependable, and efficient operation of pipelines, facilities, and field assets in the surrounding areas. This role involves troubleshooting and conducting failure analyses, as well as formulating recommendations to enhance equipment performance. Collaboration with various stakeholders, including Operations, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), reliability teams, and Commercial departments, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the performance of plants and gathering systems, including compressor performance and control systems, while suggesting modifications to minimize processing disruptions, enhance reliability, boost efficiency, increase output, and lower expenses.
  • Acts as a technical resource for diagnosing system process challenges and operational issues, engaging with personnel at all levels, including operators, mechanics, supervisors, and environmental professionals.
  • Supports and may lead technical and economic assessments, performance evaluations, and the design and construction of new facilities or upgrades to existing ones, all while adhering to safety and environmental risk management goals.
  • Develops and maintains various process simulations for plant and compressor stations.
  • Reviews and ensures adherence to engineering standards and procedures, providing guidance to meet quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance benchmarks.
  • Plans and assists development engineers with the design of a wide range of engineering projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Defines project concepts, scopes, technical requirements, and specifications to ensure compliance with engineering principles, standards, and regulations. Coordinates with clients to strategize project execution and resolve technical issues.
  • Provides technical support for Process Safety Management (PSM) at the plant and compressor stations, offering recommendations to mitigate process safety risks.
  • Anticipates business or regulatory challenges and proposes enhancements to processes, products, or services.
  • Engages in scoping, design, cost estimation, contractor selection, installation, and management of complex projects, demonstrating proficiency in interpreting plans and specifications.
  • Participates in incident investigations, various meetings, training sessions, and commercial support activities.
  • Assists in maintaining project documentation and ensuring compliance with regulations and contractual obligations.
  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates projects while mentoring and advising junior engineers.
  • Performs additional duties as necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
  • Provides technical assistance to the process plant, field compressor stations, and piping systems for the P66 South Central G&P assets to all internal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering.
  • 8 or more years of experience in an Engineering role.
  • Prior engineering experience in the oil and gas sector.
  • Basic proficiency in process simulation software such as Promax and VMG/Symmetry.
  • Willing and able to comply with the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:
    • Travel to field and training locations.
    • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, under conditions that may include heat, humidity, or other adverse weather.
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection).
    • Lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Occasionally exert pulling force of 130 pounds.
    • Occasionally climb various ladders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including DOT 192/195, OSHA standards, and industry practices such as ASTM, API, NACE, ASME, NFPA, etc.
  • Knowledge of facility design practices, including compression and separation, pumps and fluid dynamics, piping design, foundation design, structural design, instrumentation and electrical systems, distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), SCADA design, process control fundamentals, and safety systems.
  • Understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM), including Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and capacity to influence at a local level and across a broad organization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Willing and able to comply with the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:
    • Climb up to 200 feet in height.
    • Work in confined spaces.
