Overview

HF Sinclair Midstream is in search of a dedicated Field Technician. This role is pivotal in acquiring the essential skills for the transportation and procurement of crude oil from producers. The technician will serve as the primary purchaser of crude oil at designated locations, assessing quality and quantity while managing the flow within gathering systems.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are essential to this position:

  • Utilizes specialized equipment, known as pigs, for maintenance, inspection, and cleaning of existing pipelines.
  • Conducts gauging of crude oil at various gathering fields to ensure accurate inventory management.
  • Oversees custody transfer operations in line with company policies for different crude oil types.
  • Prepares documentation detailing measurements, quality, and pricing of crude oil purchases.
  • Acts as a point of contact for producer representatives in the field.
  • Performs regular inspections and maintenance on equipment, including meter calibrations.
  • Handles non-routine maintenance tasks as necessary.
  • May be involved in sampling and measurement at terminals or pumping stations.
  • Represents the company during meter proving operations.
  • Engages in quality analysis discussions when discrepancies arise.
  • Will acquire knowledge of additional tasks related to crude oil gathering.
  • Once fully trained, will provide support to other Field Technicians as required.
Qualifications

A minimum of two years of general work experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least three years of relevant experience in the Oil and Gas sector, military fuel management, or natural gas pipeline operations is preferred.

Educational Requirements

A High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

Essential Skills

Strong mathematical and measurement skills are necessary, along with a solid understanding of safety protocols. Candidates should possess mechanical aptitude and effective communication abilities, both written and verbal.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role involves significant financial responsibility, with the authority to purchase crude oil at substantial amounts without secondary approval.

Work Environment

This position is field-based, requiring approximately 60% travel. The technician will work outdoors in various conditions, including exposure to chemicals and heavy machinery. Flexibility for shift work and on-call availability is essential.

Physical Demands

The role necessitates physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb heights, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity. Compliance with safety gear requirements is mandatory.
