POSITION SUMMARY:
The District Sales Manager plays a crucial role in driving growth within a designated area by generating demand in the marketplace and fostering relationships with both new and existing clients. This position thrives on expanding multi-market business opportunities for a diverse range of products by engaging with engineering firms, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), property owners, and mechanical contractors, while also collaborating with local distributor partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of product offerings to effectively communicate with clients.
- Identify and engage key engineering accounts, delivering product presentations and ensuring specification conversions are prioritized.
- Develop and implement strategic business plans tailored to various customer segments within the assigned territory.
- Analyze sales data to drive promotional efforts, assess market needs, and formulate sales campaigns aligned with company objectives.
- Manage and nurture customer relationships by addressing concerns, ensuring proper setup in systems, providing pricing information, and scheduling regular visits.
- Proactively follow up on new leads and referrals to enhance business opportunities.
- Conduct field sales activities by visiting engineering firms, distributor partners, OEMs, and end-user clients to secure new business and grow existing accounts.
- Utilize tools for tracking sales activities and reporting business performance.
- Oversee the selection and development of distributor partners in the region, including setting sales targets and providing training for sales personnel.
- Ensure clients have access to adequate marketing materials, including samples and brochures, to support their sales efforts.
- Keep the organization informed about competitor activities within the region.
- Act as a liaison between customer service, technical support, engineering, and other departments to enhance sales and service effectiveness.
- Participate in industry-related events such as trade shows and association gatherings.
- Formulate and execute a plan to meet the district's sales budget on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Regional Manager.
Qualifications
- A minimum of five years of experience in outside sales, preferably within the construction sector, with expertise in areas such as municipal services, water treatment, aquatics, mining, or the pipe, valve, and fittings industry.
- A positive, solution-oriented attitude.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with engineers, contractors, owners, and distributors.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, along with a solid mechanical aptitude, enabling interaction with a diverse customer base.
- Experience in managing sales budgets and consistently achieving sales targets.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution is preferred.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Willingness to travel between 50% to 70% of the time.
- Must reside within the designated district.
