We are currently in search of a Environmental Compliance Officer to collaborate with Dominion Energy on Transmission Construction Projects. This role is primarily field-based, and candidates should possess a solid background in environmental regulations related to land clearing and linear construction initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to environmental laws and regulations concerning wetland access, protected species, and site management.
  • Provide technical support in various construction disciplines, including environmental compliance and erosion control.
  • Oversee the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for utility transmission construction sites.
  • Manage site development teams during construction activities.
  • Verify that all operations comply with necessary permits and environmental regulations.
  • Document site conditions pre- and post-work to ensure compliance and identify any required mitigation.
  • Ensure identification of wetlands and sensitive areas is communicated to relevant crews.
  • Assist in securing clearing agreements and address customer concerns related to maintenance activities.
  • Engage with utility clients, contractors, landowners, and the public to foster positive relations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in linear utility construction, including electric transmission and gas pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
  • Willingness to travel as required for assignments.
  • Desire to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for public engagement.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related fields.
  • Experience in Electric Transmission Construction or Pipeline Utility sectors.
  • Certification in Erosion and Sediment Control.
  • Familiarity with wetland delineation and utility permitting.
  • Experience overseeing construction crews.
  • Knowledge of GIS.
Working Environment:
Fieldwork in various outdoor settings, including remote and urban locations. The role involves physical demands such as walking long distances and navigating diverse terrains.
