We are currently looking for an Environmental Compliance Officer to join our team at Environmental Consultants (ECI). This role involves fieldwork and requires expertise in environmental regulations pertaining to land clearing and linear construction projects. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to environmental laws and regulations concerning wetland access, protected species, and site management.
  • Provide technical support in various construction disciplines, including environmental compliance and erosion control.
  • Oversee the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for utility construction sites.
  • Manage site development teams during construction phases.
  • Ensure compliance with all necessary permits and document site conditions to meet environmental standards.
  • Identify wetlands and sensitive areas, ensuring proper management practices are in place.
  • Facilitate communication with utility clients, contractors, landowners, and the public to maintain positive relations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in linear utility construction, including electric transmission and gas pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
  • Willingness to travel for assignments, including potential overnight stays.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and public engagement abilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency and a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related fields.
  • Experience in Electric Transmission Construction or Pipeline Utility sectors.
  • Certification in Erosion and Sediment Control.
  • Familiarity with wetland delineation and utility permitting.
  • Previous experience in overseeing construction crews.
  • GIS knowledge.
Working Environment:
Fieldwork in diverse outdoor settings, including remote and urban locations. The role involves physical demands such as walking, climbing, and operating vehicles in various terrains.
