NYC Media serves as the City’s primary broadcast network and media production entity.

NYC Life, the flagship channel, provides programming that educates, informs, and entertains New Yorkers about the City’s diverse communities, services, and events.

Available over-the-air and through multiple cable providers, NYC Media reaches around 18 million viewers within a 50-mile radius, operating 24/7.

NYC Gov, the municipal channel, offers live coverage of City Council sessions, City Planning Commission meetings, and more, ensuring government transparency.

WNYE 91.5 FM Radio delivers NPR news, talk shows, world music, and local community programming, engaging over 12 million listeners within its 40-mile reach.

The Broadcast & IT Support Engineer is tasked with supporting and maintaining a 24/7/365 broadcast facility, which includes master control, transmission sites, and various interconnected production and post-production environments.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation, repair, and maintenance of advanced broadcast equipment;
  • Collaboration with High Definition video playback servers, routers, automation systems, and KVM systems;
  • Maintenance of broadband connections between master control and transmitters;
  • Providing IT support for peer-to-peer file sharing protocols and remote desktop applications;
  • Working closely with engineers and operators at the Master Control Facility, as well as the TV technical team and NYC OTI, to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to broadcast and multimedia systems.

  • Providing database maintenance and support;
  • Representing the Office of Media and Entertainment in diverse, professional environments and effectively interfacing with broadcast personnel, including master control operators, supervisors, and programming staff;
  • Managing special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Work Schedule:

Due to the operational requirements of this position, candidates may be required to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in telecommunications, electronics, physics, or related fields, along with one year of relevant full-time experience; or
  • An associate degree with 12 semester credits in the aforementioned fields and two years of relevant experience; or
  • A high school diploma or equivalent with three years of relevant experience; or
  • A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements, with at least a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience.
Additional Requirements:

To qualify for Assignment Level IV, candidates must have at least two additional years of full-time experience in relevant roles after meeting the minimum requirements.
