SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Operations Supervisor is tasked with managing the daily activities related to the contracts United Utility Power Services (UUPS) holds with various clients in the Northeast region. This role is crucial in ensuring client satisfaction with UUPS's services and overall performance. The Operations Supervisor is expected to foster growth opportunities with current clients while actively seeking to expand the client base. This position collaborates closely with the local UUPS team and reports directly to the Northeast Director of UUPS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular meetings with clients to gather feedback and enhance communication regarding team performance.
  • Engage with UUPS personnel to address concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Support change management initiatives that arise from client needs, ensuring UUPS personnel are informed.
  • Identify and eliminate obstacles while implementing solutions agreed upon with clients and UUPS management.
  • Assist in organizing and executing team meetings.
  • Carry out incident investigations and analyses across the Northeast as required.
  • Provide weekly updates to senior management regarding contract performance.
  • For contracts involving fieldwork, perform regular work observations and document findings.
  • Collaborate with client Emergency Preparedness Teams for storm restoration efforts.
  • Implement corrective actions based on insights gained from daily operations and storm-related activities.
  • Coordinate with client Contracts and Purchasing Teams to ensure purchase orders are current.
  • Work with UUPS Fleet personnel to manage vehicle swaps as necessary.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for new hires.
  • Assist in contract negotiations and development as needed.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations for UUPS personnel.
  • Work with senior management to administer progressive discipline when required.
  • Review timesheets and invoices as necessary.
  • Monitor project costs to ensure revenue projections are met.
  • Participate in budget planning, performance analysis, and forecasting for contracts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure compliance of UUPS personnel with all relevant environmental and safety regulations.
  • Maintain adherence to client and UUPS standards and procedures.
  • Promptly notify management of any safety or environmental compliance deviations.
  • Engage in meetings as necessary, contributing to discussions and decisions.
  • Focus on delivering exceptional service to clients, continuously refining processes to achieve this goal.
  • Interact with clients and team members in a positive and engaging manner.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILL:

  • Understanding of applicable safety regulations and construction standards.
  • Familiarity with construction methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of energy delivery systems.
  • Aptitude for learning and utilizing available information technologies.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 5 years in Transmission, Distribution, or Substation design and/or construction, with supervisory and direct client interface experience.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Availability for emergency restoration assignments as required, with the ability to travel throughout the Northeast region and access remote job sites.

PAY & BENEFITS:

This is an exempt position with a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include a vehicle stipend, cell phone stipend, health and dental plans, and a 401(k) option with employer matching.
