Job Overview

Position: Fire Protection Project Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the execution of projects by field teams
  • Coordinate and schedule workforce for project requirements
  • Collaborate with design teams to resolve installation challenges and propose innovative solutions for future projects
  • Supervise shop staff and delivery personnel
  • Assist in project surveying as necessary for design accuracy
  • Participate in meetings with general contractors regarding project updates
  • Attend acceptance tests conducted by fire marshals as required
  • Join weekly construction meetings to discuss project progress
  • Support project managers with various tasks
  • Compile material lists for project modifications
  • Ensure completion of punch list items for project finalization
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  1. Initiate each meeting with a safety discussion
  2. Ensure prompt and accurate reporting of incidents and accidents
  3. Complete Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Toolbox Talks, and Audit Forms in a timely manner
  4. Conduct monthly site visits and observations
  5. Hold the team accountable for safety initiatives
  6. Promote safe driving practices for company vehicles
  • Communicate effectively and professionally within the department and with clients
  • Adhere to HR and safety protocols
  • Facilitate training initiatives
  1. Develop and implement training requirements
  2. Commit to training at all levels for all team members
  • Manage timesheets accurately, including job numbers, overtime, and travel pay
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is available for job completion, including scope sheets, budgets, and material lists
  • Oversee inventory management
  • Optimize material purchasing and adhere to standard operating procedures
  • Maximize production efficiency while maintaining quality standards
  • Support adherence to all company SOPs related to purchasing, accounting, and subcontracting
  • Monitor budget versus actual job costing and participate in improvement discussions
  • Submit work tickets promptly with all required documentation
  • Engage in weekly team meetings to update job statuses
  1. Review materials, equipment rentals, and subcontractor statuses
  2. Analyze reports for insights
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and discuss feedback for improvement
  • Maintain quality control to minimize return trips and warranty work
  • Foster teamwork and positive interactions across departments

Knowledge Requirements:

  • In-depth understanding of fire protection and life safety systems, along with relevant regulatory standards
  • Familiarity with fire protection installation standards
  • Ability to interpret fire protection blueprints
  • Minimum educational requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Completion of the American Fire Sprinkler Association training program for fire sprinkler foremen
  • RME-I license is required or must be obtained within 6-12 months of employment

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience as a fire sprinkler foreman
  • A minimum of 10 years of field experience in fire sprinklers

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to follow directions from upper management
  • Proficient in completing and maintaining paperwork
  • Maintain tools and vehicles according to company policies
  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Knowledgeable about NFPA 13 regulations and relevant codes
  • Professional communication skills with trades, clients, and officials
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership abilities
  • Commitment to a clean and safe work environment
  • Adherence to all safety practices and guidelines
  • Deliver projects on time while ensuring high-quality standards and customer satisfaction
  • Strong leadership skills to manage personnel and project demands
  • Organized work approach with thorough record-keeping
  • Proficient in using Outlook, Word, and Excel for communication and documentation
