FIRE SPRINKLER INSTALLATION SUPERVISOR

POSITION OVERVIEW

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the installation of fire suppression systems in various settings including residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
  • Manage the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automatic fire suppression systems and associated equipment.
  • Lead a team: assign, direct, and manage tasks for fitters and assistants to ensure project deadlines are met and objectives are surpassed.
  • When necessary, supervise or engage in the excavation and repair of underground mains, including backfilling and compaction.
  • Ensure project outcomes align with financial and productivity targets.
  • Complete and process all necessary documentation, whether electronic or paper-based, as required by corporate management systems.
  • Guarantee that all equipment, including specialty valves and fire pumps, is installed according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Conduct and coordinate essential system testing and ensure all required certifications are obtained.
  • Train and mentor Helpers, apprentices, or other staff in the fundamentals of service, repair, and system installation.
  • Organize daily work schedules and manage the productivity of assigned personnel.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients and provide necessary updates.
  • Participate in at least four hours of continuing education annually.
  • Manage inventory on service vehicles.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

  • Complete all required training, including safety and certifications.
  • Submit accurate timesheets, including job numbers/names, overtime, and travel pay, in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all necessary documents are complete, accurate, and professionally presented with required signatures.
  • Manage inventory effectively, reviewing and approving packing slips promptly.
  • Maintain and care for equipment, including trucks, lifts, and tools.
  • Keep job sites clean and organized.
  • Ensure production efficiency by monitoring budget versus actual labor hours and communicating proactively with supervisors.
  • Adhere to company Standard Operating Procedures regarding Purchase Orders and Change Orders.
  • Be punctual and maintain effective communication with supervisors.
  • Strive for customer satisfaction and address feedback from Customer Satisfaction Surveys.
  • Maintain quality control to minimize the need for return visits and warranty work.
  • Present a professional appearance at all times.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with team members and external clients.
  • Foster teamwork and maintain positive interactions within the team and local office.
  • Actively engage in required team meetings.
  • Be available for overtime, travel, or on-call duties as needed.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Proficient understanding of fire sprinkler piping systems, including fabrication and various materials and joining methods.
  • Familiarity with fire protection installation standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret fire protection blueprints accurately.
  • Minimum educational requirement of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of the American Fire Sprinkler Association training program for fire sprinkler foremen is preferred.
  • Certification as a state or federally accredited Foreman is preferred.
  • State Backflow testing and repair certification is preferred.
  • Forklift and scissor lift certifications are preferred.
  • NICET II & III certifications are preferred.
  • Understanding of NFPA codes and standards is essential.

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a fire sprinkler helper is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a fire sprinkler apprentice or fitter is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to follow directions from upper management.
  • Accurately complete and maintain all necessary paperwork.
  • Maintain vehicles and tools in accordance with company policy.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, interactive, communicative, detail-oriented, and organized.
  • Knowledgeable about NFPA 13 regulations and all relevant codes.
  • Ability to communicate and interact professionally with other trades, clients, project managers, county officials, and general contractors.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills and the ability to lead and mentor others.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Comply with all company safety protocols and the safety handbook.
  • Complete projects efficiently while ensuring high-quality work and customer satisfaction.
