Database Administrator

PamTen is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of our Oracle ATP databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain Oracle ATP databases, including installation, configuration, user management, schema management, storage management, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data against loss or corruption and perform regular backups and restores as needed.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades and patching to keep systems up-to-date and secure, while minimizing downtime and disruptions.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize system resources to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
  • Ability to tune the performance bottleneck queries w.r.t ANSI-89 and ANSI 92 SQls.
  • User management of ERP Applications over OCI Integration.
  • Security Management: Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • DB scaling management - knowledge on DB storage scaling.
  • Oracle ATP DB monitoring via OCI performance tool.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions, such as Oracle Data Guard, Oracle RAC, and standby databases.
  • Capacity Planning and DB environment maintenance: Forecast future capacity requirements and plan database resources accordingly to support business growth and scalability.
  • JIRA and Reporting: Maintain documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and best practices, and generate reports on database performance and health.
  • Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and support teams to troubleshoot issues, provide technical support, and ensure smooth operation of database systems.
Requirements:
  • Strong analytical skills for business and technical requirement analysis.
  • P&C Insurance knowledge is an added advantage.
  • Proven working experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications.
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL.
  • Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding.
  • Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third party tools.
  • Familiarity with programming languages API.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
