Job Description:

Web Developer/Senior Web Developer

Office of Information Technology

The Web Developer/Senior Web Developer plays a crucial role in assisting with the planning, design, development, testing, and maintenance of websites, web applications, and integrations in support of Brown's administrative and academic departments.

This position requires a strong understanding of developing and maintaining database-driven web applications, as well as experience working with open-source content management platforms, such as Drupal.

The ideal candidate will have a solid grasp of application development frameworks, including Laravel, and experience with JavaScript frameworks like React, Next.js, and Vue.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have experience with Apache configuration management, general Linux administration, and version control methodologies using Git.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain database-driven web applications
  • Work with open-source content management platforms
  • Collaborate with the team to establish and promote common development methodologies and tools
  • Assist in promoting standardization and efficiencies across the division
  • Maintain a secure and reliable computing environment aligned with OIT established standards and industry best practices

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of related technical experience
  • Familiarity with developing and maintaining database-driven web applications
  • Experience working with open-source content management platforms
  • Experience with PHP and Laravel
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience with Apache configuration management and general Linux administration
  • Experience with version control methodologies using Git
  • Experience with package/dependency management tools
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies
  • Familiarity with continuous integration platforms
  • Working knowledge of various relational database management systems
  • Ability to understand non-technical users' requirements
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Strong communications skills
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community
