POSITION SUMMARY:
  • Family Support Specialist Responsibilities: Collaborating with families to help them achieve their aspirations, advocating for their needs within local systems, and facilitating access to community resources. Delivering intensive in-home support to parents facing cognitive challenges. Managing an average caseload of 14 families per month, with a requirement for evening and weekend availability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Embrace the core values of stewardship, compassion, integrity, and equity
  • Deliver services tailored to the diverse needs of the population
  • Conduct weekly sessions focused on parenting skills and coaching
  • Develop and implement trauma-informed parenting strategies
  • Exemplify age-appropriate parenting methods
  • Collaborate with families to enhance parenting practices
  • Instruct on self-regulation and redirection techniques
  • Monitor and celebrate parental progress
  • Assist in creating family routines that promote well-being
  • Support meal planning, budget management, and safety enhancements
  • Facilitate self-management services to promote family self-sufficiency
  • Identify and recommend counseling resources for families
  • Enhance social support networks for families
  • Provide transportation assistance as necessary
  • Address family crises effectively
  • Supervise the use of agency funds by clients
  • Maintain objective records of client interactions
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Modify parenting education materials for parents with cognitive challenges
  • Engage with community partners
  • Collaborate with the Department of Human Services
  • Respond to inquiries from relevant state departments
  • Participate in weekly supervisory meetings with the Director
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Familiarity with community resources in Lane County
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Cultural and linguistic competency
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Valid driver's license
  • Commitment to ongoing education in early intervention and education
  • Successful completion of a background check
PHYSICAL DEMAND:
  • Physical effort may vary based on circumstances
MENTAL OR VISUAL DEMAND:
  • Concentration is essential when working with children and families
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Office environment with climate control

  • Availability is based on organizational needs
