Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The LEAP Support Specialist will guide individuals with diverse abilities in acquiring essential life skills, engaging in recreational and social activities, and enhancing mobility. This role is pivotal in ensuring that individuals remain actively involved throughout the day, whether in group settings, independently, or through virtual programs. By fostering a joyful and encouraging atmosphere, the specialist will utilize various activities such as arts & crafts, music, cooking, outings, and educational sessions to promote personal growth and enrichment. The fulfillment derived from assisting individuals in achieving their aspirations while collaborating with a dynamic team is significant. This is a full-time opportunity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Complete all required training as mandated by relevant authorities and the Pearl Buck Center.
  2. Maintain accurate records and perform daily data entries in the designated recordkeeping systems.
  3. Provide necessary support in personal hygiene and restroom assistance as required.
  4. Guide individuals in self-care practices to enhance their independence.
  5. Assist individuals in navigating both the facility and the community.
  6. Adhere to client protocols to ensure maximum independence.
  7. Facilitate access to leisure, social, and employment opportunities for supported individuals.
  8. Engage individuals in daily activities, promoting participation, skill development, and exploration.
  9. Support and assist with virtual activity classes.
  10. Familiarize oneself with and review all Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) for the individuals supported.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the development of strategies aimed at minimizing challenging behaviors while promoting positive ones; assist in creating online curricula.
  • Prepare and distribute meals, providing support as needed during meal times.
  • Accompany individuals on community inclusion outings, whether one-on-one or in groups.
  • Assist in various capacities as assigned, including support in other departments.
  • Participate in assigned projects as needed.
