Established in 1948, the Jewish Federation of Greater Long Beach and West Orange County serves as a vital community hub, encompassing the functions of a Jewish community center, federation, and foundation. The organization offers a diverse range of programs and services, grounded in Jewish values yet accessible to all, including early childhood education, summer camps, after-school initiatives, adult learning, senior services, leadership training, wellness programs, advocacy, and more. Annually, the organization allocates nearly $500,000 in grants to various nonprofit entities both locally and internationally. The Federation operates from a multi-use campus and manages a significant annual budget and philanthropic assets.

Role Summary

The Member Engagement Specialist serves as a welcoming point of contact for members and visitors at the front desk or Welcome Desk. This role involves answering inquiries, managing member accounts, facilitating reservations, and directing visitors appropriately. Work hours may vary based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet members as they arrive, ensuring they feel valued and acknowledged.
  • Assist members with check-ins using the designated app.
  • Handle incoming calls, capturing caller information and directing them to the appropriate resources. Take messages as needed and ensure timely distribution.
  • Process program registrations efficiently.
  • Maintain familiarity with the various services offered to effectively meet member needs, collaborating with other departments as necessary.
  • Receive and distribute mail and packages, notifying relevant staff of arrivals.
  • Provide comprehensive information about programs and services, staying informed about daily activities.
  • Adapt to changes proactively and undertake additional tasks as assigned. Participate in team meetings and organizational events as required.
  • Exhibit the highest standards of courtesy, friendliness, and service excellence toward members, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Support the mission and values of the organization.
  • Collaborate effectively with all team members.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

The Member Engagement Specialist is regularly required to use hands for various tasks and communicate effectively. The role may involve lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds. Most of the time will be spent seated.

Work Environment

The work environment is typically clean and comfortable, with minor distractions such as noise or temperature changes.
