Position Overview:

The DuPont Electronic Polymers facility is in search of a full-time Quality Assurance Chemist. This site manufactures polymers in batch reactors utilized in various semiconductor applications, including photolithography and semiconductor packaging. The Quality Assurance Chemist will assist in achieving and exceeding the quality standards at the Dayton, Ohio facility. This role involves not only operating testing equipment but also analyzing results and conducting necessary experiments in laboratory settings.

This position is crucial for maintaining the consistently high quality of our materials, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted supply to our clients. Additionally, it will enhance our testing capabilities and methodologies for incoming materials.

The Quality Assurance Chemist will be expected to engage fully with R&D, Analytical Sciences, Process Development Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure success and act as a valuable resource during troubleshooting scenarios related to material quality or supply disruptions. Collaboration as part of a global team is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of quality standards for ISO9001:2015 and other relevant quality benchmarks at the Dayton Plant.
  • Select and apply appropriate analytical techniques (LC, GC, GPC, ICP, NMR, etc.) and support enhancements for both incoming and outgoing quality control inspections linked to customer KPIs and Quality Objectives.
  • Utilize statistical analysis of property data to evaluate the capability to meet customer specifications and expectations (SQC, SPC) to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Develop, validate, and document new analytical methodologies.
  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams to investigate internal and external quality non-conformances and determine suitable corrective actions using tools such as 5 Why, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, etc., ensuring actions are effective.
  • Effectively communicate results to stakeholders and other interested parties.
  • Comply with all group, site, and company safety, ethics, and quality programs.
  • Provide quality training as necessary for both new and existing employees.
  • Balance workloads effectively to meet business priorities while operating in a multi-project environment.
Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Analytical Chemistry (M.S. in Analytical Chemistry preferred).
  • Experience with a broad range of analytical techniques, including but not limited to GPC, GC, LC, ICP, NMR using various detectors as appropriate.
  • Preferred experience in the semiconductor or chemical industries.
  • Proficient in statistical software (Minitab or JMP) and Microsoft programs (Excel, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.
  • Understanding of quality standards relevant to industry requirements (i.e., ISO 9001:2015) and the controls necessary to achieve and maintain compliance.
  • Problem-solving skills and familiarity with quality tools (e.g., SPC, 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA).
  • Ability to deliver clear and concise oral and written communications, making complex messages understandable both internally and to our global clients.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to drive quality improvements. Required competencies include a bias for action, integrity, judgment, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, solid time management, fluent communication, and teamwork.
