Position Overview:
Daifuku Airport America Corporation, a subsidiary of Daifuku North America, is a leader in the material handling industry, specializing in innovative automated systems. Our expertise encompasses a wide range of applications, from automotive manufacturing to airport logistics.

We are currently seeking a qualified Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Airport Baggage Handling engineering team, reporting directly to the Engineering Program Manager.

This role involves collaborating closely with the Project Engineer to ensure effective project execution. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead a team of engineers and technicians, guiding them through the design and implementation phases of various projects.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Possess a strong understanding of Airport Baggage Handling Checked Baggage Inspection Systems (CBIS).
  • Engage in cross-disciplinary coordination with other engineering teams, project management, clients, and suppliers.
  • Oversee the design and development of mechanical conveyor systems for baggage handling projects, utilizing AutoCAD in both 2D and 3D formats.
  • Review and verify detail drawings for fabrication.
  • Mentor junior engineers and new team members.
  • Prepare specifications, drawings, and process documentation for manufacturing and subcontracting.
  • Design and select conveyor equipment, including power transmission systems.
  • Manage the ordering of mechanical equipment, ensuring alignment with purchasing protocols.
  • Participate in testing and commissioning efforts, both in the office and on-site.
  • Support proposals and inquiries that drive future sales opportunities.
  • Ensure project timelines are met, maintaining adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Lead design review meetings and contribute to team objectives.

Essential Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in the design of automated systems. Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D) is required, and familiarity with Inventor and material handling systems is preferred.

Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical skills, effective time management, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. Physical capabilities include the ability to navigate industrial environments and handle equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.
