Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Engineer to join our team at Aperture Group. As a Technical Service Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining automation and material handling systems for our clients in the automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Installation and Maintenance: Perform electrical, electronic, and mechanical repairs on automation and material handling systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures, recommend solutions, and handle part replacement and system upgrades as needed.
  • System Design and Development: Assist with engineering studies to develop reliable solutions tailored to customer requirements, and interpret engineering drawings to support installation crews.
  • Project Management: Manage small projects (under $1M) including creating bid documents, estimating costs, and facilitating meetings with customers and subcontractors.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise skilled trades and other associates as needed, and resolve on-site technical issues while communicating effectively with the project and design teams.
  • Travel and Site Management: Travel to job sites across the US, Canada, and Mexico as required, and ensure proper tracking of parts and inventory accuracy.
Requirements
  • Education: BS in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience: 1-4 years of experience in material handling, conveyor engineering, or a construction/manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive sector.
  • Skills: PLC programming skills in a hands-on field environment, experience managing subcontractors, schedules, and budgets, and proficiency in commissioning new equipment and troubleshooting existing systems.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with structural design and analysis, experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or other 3D modeling software, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project).
