Position Overview:

Daifuku Airport America Corporation, a prominent subsidiary of Daifuku North America, specializes in advanced material handling solutions. We are recognized globally for our expertise in engineering, manufacturing, and servicing innovative automated systems that cater to various industries, including aviation and logistics.

We are currently on the lookout for a qualified Mechanical Engineer II to join our Airport Baggage Handling engineering team. This role is integral to our operations and will report directly to the Engineering Program Manager, working closely with the Project Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage actively in the design and development of mechanical conveyor systems tailored for Airport Baggage Handling projects, utilizing AutoCAD in both 2D and 3D formats.
  • Create and review detailed drawings for shop fabrication, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare specifications, drawings, and process descriptions for manufacturing and subcontracting purposes.
  • Design and select appropriate conveyor equipment, including power transmission components.
  • Order mechanical equipment at an engineering level, collaborating with purchasing teams and vendors.
  • Participate in testing, commercial installation, and commissioning efforts, which may involve both office and site engagement.
  • Support proposals and inquiries that drive future product sales.
  • Adhere to project timelines to maintain schedules and budgets.
  • Contribute to design review meetings and collaborate effectively with team members.

Essential Knowledge:

  • Engineering and Technology: Proficient in applying engineering principles and techniques to design and produce various goods and services.
  • Production and Processing: Understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost management for effective manufacturing and distribution.
  • English Language: Strong command of the English language, including grammar, composition, and vocabulary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience in industrial automation or material handling systems design.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in a related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, both 2D and 3D; experience with Inventor is preferred.
  • Familiarity with material handling systems is advantageous.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires the ability to remain stationary for extended periods, traverse office spaces, operate computers and productivity machinery, and communicate effectively. Candidates must also be capable of navigating industrial conveyor systems, which may involve climbing ladders and lifting objects up to 40 lbs.
