Position Overview:

We are currently in search of a skilled Mechanical Engineer II to join our Airport Baggage Handling engineering team, reporting directly to the Engineering Program Manager.


The Mechanical Engineer II will collaborate closely with the Project Engineer to develop comprehensive designs, focusing on layout finalization, power transmission systems, equipment procurement, and mechanical commissioning plans for Airport Baggage Handling projects.

In this role, you will engage in system design both independently and in partnership with colleagues, ensuring project deliverables align with specified requirements while adhering to timelines and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Mechanical Engineer II, your responsibilities will include:


1. Engaging in the design and development of mechanical conveyor systems for Airport Baggage Handling projects using AutoCAD in both 2D and 3D formats, including thorough checks of designs.

2. Creating detailed drawings for shop fabrication and ensuring accuracy through checks.


3. Preparing specifications, drawings, and process descriptions for manufacturing and subcontracting purposes.
4. Selecting and designing conveyor equipment, including power transmission components.
5. Ordering mechanical equipment at an engineering level while coordinating with purchasing teams and vendors.
6. Participating in testing, commercial installation, and commissioning efforts, which may involve both office and site activities.
7. Supporting proposals and inquiries that promote future product sales.
8. Ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgetary constraints.
9. Contributing to design review meetings and collaborating with team members to achieve related results.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:


- A solid understanding of engineering principles and technology applications relevant to design and production.


- Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and cost management techniques.


- Proficiency in the English language, including grammar, composition, and vocabulary.


Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates should have:


- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience in industrial automation or material handling systems design.


- 3-5 years of relevant experience.


- Proficiency in AutoCAD for both 2D and 3D design; experience with Inventor is preferred.


- Familiarity with material handling systems is advantageous.


- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.


- The ability to remain stationary for extended periods, traverse office environments, operate computers and productivity machinery, and communicate effectively.


- Capability to navigate industrial conveyor systems, including climbing ladders and lifting objects up to 40 lbs.
