Postdoctoral Researcher in Cognitive Neuroscience

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking applications for a postdoctoral researcher position within the Long Term Memory Lab, part of the Department of Psychology.
This role will focus on a project supported by a national health agency, aimed at elucidating the characteristics of the retrieval state—a neural condition that facilitates the access of stored information and impacts subsequent cognitive processing and behavior.
The successful candidate will take the lead in designing and analyzing scalp electroencephalographic (EEG) studies, overseeing data collection efforts, and managing a team that may include graduate students, a research coordinator, and undergraduate assistants. Additionally, the postdoctoral researcher will play a key role in the preparation and dissemination of research findings.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must hold a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment. Candidates should possess experience in conducting neural research focused on memory, attention, or similar cognitive functions. Familiarity with scalp EEG and/or functional magnetic resonance imaging techniques, as well as experience in human subjects research, is highly desirable. Strong leadership and project management abilities are essential for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously. The candidate is expected to foster a safe laboratory environment, contribute to the writing of research publications and grant proposals, and mentor both undergraduate and graduate students within the lab.
