The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Neuroscience Research Specialist within the Department of Pharmacology. This role will contribute to the Bayliss Lab's mission by engaging in advanced research focused on the molecular, cellular, and systems-level aspects of neuroscience, particularly in relation to chemosensory and cardiorespiratory brainstem neurons.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a key member of our research team, the successful candidate will conduct experiments that deepen our understanding of neuronal function and behavior. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about cellular and molecular neurobiology and possess a strong desire to utilize imaging, optogenetic, and electrophysiological techniques in their research.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must hold a PhD and/or MD degree(s) at the time of appointment. Ideal candidates will have a background in neurobiology, with experience in relevant methodologies and a keen interest in applying these techniques to in vivo behavioral studies.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE

This position is available as a 12-month appointment, with the potential for renewal based on performance and funding availability. The role is suitable for those who have recently completed their doctoral studies, typically within the last five years.
