Role Overview:
The Educational Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting educators in the delivery of instruction and support to students.

Qualifications:
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required; candidates must possess an associate degree or have completed two years of post-secondary education, or be a high school graduate who has successfully passed a PARAPRO or OGET assessment.

Preferred Experience:
Prior experience working with children or adolescents, as well as clerical experience, is advantageous.

Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Building Principal.

Contract Duration:
175 days

Compensation:
Salary is determined according to the Teacher's Assistant schedule. FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in instructional activities for individuals or groups as directed by the teacher.
- Supervise students during instructional sessions, off-campus events, and non-instructional times such as recess and lunch.
- Occasionally oversee students in the absence of the teacher.
- Prepare and adapt instructional materials as needed.
- Create and maintain bulletin boards and educational aids.
- Support students with their assignments and educational tasks.
- Set up and operate equipment for instructional use.
- Serve as a primary resource for substitute teachers.
- Aid the teacher in managing student behavior and responding to crises when necessary.
- Keep accurate records of student grades and attendance.
- Assist with personal care needs and minor first aid as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the classroom environment.
- Prepare snacks and assist students in developing proper eating habits.
- May supervise student behavior on the bus during afternoon routes.
- Operate office equipment such as photocopiers and laminators.
- Help gather supplies for scheduled activities and maintain communication with parents as needed.
- Uphold confidentiality at all times and perform additional duties as assigned.

Success in this role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve issues while providing information and support. Adherence to safety protocols is essential to ensure the well-being of both staff and students. Candidates should demonstrate creativity, initiative, and effective problem-solving skills. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the management of educational technology and providing support to staff in utilizing administrative systems, all aimed at enhancing the educational experience.
