Position Overview

The Activity Coordinator and Transportation Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals by facilitating engaging, social, and educational programs under the guidance of the Activities Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and supervise a variety of activities tailored to meet the diverse needs and abilities of participants.
  • Assist with personal care routines, ensuring cleanliness and functionality of facilities.
  • Document and communicate observations regarding participant behaviors and progress to the Activities Director.
  • Support meal service, including assisting participants with tray preparation and feeding as necessary.
  • Encourage participant involvement in all scheduled activities and programs.
  • Maintain an understanding of each participant's unique requirements and preferences.
  • Help with the safe loading and unloading of participants to and from transportation vehicles.
  • Accompany participants during appointments and community outings.
  • Ensure cleanliness of dining areas post-meal service.
  • Deliver approved therapeutic and sensory activities as directed by the Activities Director and Program Director.
  • Facilitate individualized activities as instructed by the Activities Director and Program Director.
  • Implement recommendations from the Activities Director for community recreation activities.
  • Organize and set up spaces for group activities, including arranging furniture and equipment.
  • Greet visitors and direct them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate the daily activity schedule and upcoming events to participants.
  • Lead various group activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, music, drama, and social recreation.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a cohesive approach to all activities.
  • Assist in organizing community events, working with external organizations to assess recreational interests and needs.
  • Work closely under the supervision of the Activities Director, fostering teamwork among all staff.
  • Ensure the safety of participants during transportation, utilizing appropriate safety measures.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on transportation vehicles, ensuring operational safety and cleanliness.
  • Report any mechanical issues to the Program Director promptly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
