Position Overview

Role Summary: The Healthcare Language Specialist is responsible for delivering precise interpretation of essential medical information to healthcare professionals who serve patients with limited English proficiency. This role also encompasses front office responsibilities, including patient reception and appointment scheduling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate clear communication between patients and healthcare providers.
  • Manage front desk operations, including patient registration and appointment coordination.
  • Answer incoming calls and assist with patient inquiries.
  • Create and maintain patient records and accounts.
  • Verify insurance details and process patient payments.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Certification as a medical interpreter is required.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree or three years of relevant experience in healthcare or related fields.
  • Proficiency in both Spanish and English is essential.
  • Experience with medical billing and coding is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheet and word processing software is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach are necessary.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
  • Professional communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks independently and collaboratively.
