Position: SBA Loan Underwriting Specialist

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $80,000 - $105,000 annually

Our client is in search of a proficient and seasoned SBA Loan Underwriting Specialist to enhance their operational team. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in SBA and commercial loan evaluation, along with a comprehensive understanding of SBA and USDA guidelines and regulations. This position demands a professional adept at managing client relationships and collaborating effectively across various departments.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate SBA and commercial loan applications in accordance with SBA Standard Operating Procedures, credit policies, and documentation requirements.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of credit quality, financial statements, and cash flow to ensure prudent credit decisions.
  • Engage closely with both internal and external stakeholders to foster relationships and facilitate a seamless underwriting process.
  • Stay informed on the latest SBA and USDA policies and regulations.
  • Guarantee that all underwriting activities adhere to credit union standards and regulatory obligations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in SBA loan underwriting or commercial loan assessment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SBA and USDA policies and regulations.
  • Expertise in credit analysis, financial statement evaluation, and cash flow assessment.
  • Familiarity with credit policies, procedures, and documentation practices.
  • Strong grasp of SBA Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Skill in analyzing business financial statements and tax returns with minimal oversight.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Extensive understanding of commercial lending compliance and credit regulations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Capacity to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks.
  • Experience with core processing systems and specific departmental processing systems.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Solid understanding of commercial real estate and conventional underwriting policies.
