Job Overview:The Insurance Underwriting Specialist plays a vital role in our organization by collaborating with a dedicated team to identify, procure, and arrange suitable insurance solutions for clients through effective engagement with binding authority and brokerage markets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the underwriting workflow, ensuring compliance with carrier guidelines and internal policies.
- Provide necessary documentation to brokerage markets for accounts outside binding authority.
- Make informed underwriting decisions and address complex coverage issues for retail agencies.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with both binding-authority and brokerage carriers.
- Engage in the solicitation, marketing, quoting, binding, and confirmation of new and existing business opportunities.
- Negotiate optimal terms and coverage options with accessible markets while maintaining clear communication with producers regarding submissions and decisions for new or renewal business.
- Review and authorize endorsement requests in accordance with internal and carrier standards.
- Monitor accounts to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Achieve or surpass documentation standards, comply with underwriting authority levels, and successfully pass audits conducted by markets and our Internal Review Department.
- Maintain all necessary licenses to perform underwriting duties.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree or relevant insurance certification.
- A minimum of three years' experience in underwriting or brokering E&S or specialty insurance products.
- Must hold appropriate licenses in relevant insurance areas.
- Ability to independently manage the underwriting and brokerage process, including analyzing insurance policy components, determining terms and conditions, and pricing products.
- Comprehend client needs and possess knowledge of associated risk profiles.
- Stay informed about emerging trends and developments in the insurance sector and integrate them into underwriting practices.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in underwriting the types of accounts managed by the supporting team.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to retail insurance agencies.
- Exhibit teamwork capabilities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the insurance industry.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
