Job Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled Commercial Loan Underwriter to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in evaluating commercial credit applications and making informed recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess commercial credit requests thoroughly.
  • Prepare and suggest credit authorizations based on analysis.
  • Interpret profitability, cash flow, credit reports, and financial ratios to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
  • Evaluate and confirm collateral adequacy.
  • Analyze the competitive landscape and economic factors affecting borrowers, along with general business conditions and management effectiveness.
  • Determine borrower creditworthiness and associated risk factors, proposing risk mitigation strategies as necessary.
  • Draft credit authorization memorandums (CAM) and provide recommendations for credit approval, including a detailed financial review and credit risk assessment.
  • Compile problem loan reports and provide insights on the current financial status of borrowers.
  • Support account officers in managing loan portfolios effectively.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in C&I and CRE loan underwriting.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit products, concepts, and processes.
  • Familiarity with business management tools, including financial statements, ratios, budgets, and inventory management.
  • Proficient in analyzing and interpreting financial statements, business reports, and legal documents.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state banking regulations.
  • Effective mathematical skills, including the ability to work with ratios, percentages, interest calculations, and amortization.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and problem-solving abilities.
