Position Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned SEO Content Strategist to lead our organic content initiatives, with a particular emphasis on the developer community. This pivotal role is essential for driving DigitalOcean's organic expansion, especially through our educational tutorial offerings. You will work closely with our technical writing team to ensure the precision of our tutorials and enhance our content quality, distinguishing us from competitors and providing exceptional value to our developer audience. The ideal candidate will be adept at establishing comprehensive processes for our technical writers, editors, and Product Marketing Managers to adhere to SEO best practices in on-page optimization. A strong technical background is essential, along with the ability to create innovative content aimed at our developer audience, particularly in the AI/ML domain.

Core Responsibilities:

  • SEO Strategy Formulation: Design and execute on-page SEO strategies that align with content objectives, including keyword analysis, content enhancement, and competitive research. We value innovative thinking in developing forward-looking content strategies.
  • Training and Guidance: Conduct training sessions and provide ongoing support to technical writers and editors to improve their grasp and application of SEO best practices.
  • Process Development: Create and document SEO processes, guidelines, and best practices for the editorial team, ensuring uniformity and scalability.
  • Content Evaluation and Enhancement: Perform regular content evaluations to uncover opportunities for enhancing existing content's SEO performance, including updating meta descriptions, headings, and internal linking.
  • Creative Brief Creation: Collaborate with the editorial team to produce detailed content briefs that encompass SEO recommendations, target keywords, and strategic insights for both new and existing content.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Engage closely with cross-functional teams, including content, product marketing, UX, CRO, and web engineering, to ensure effective implementation of SEO recommendations.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track and report on the organic performance of content using tools such as Looker, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Semrush, and other SEO platforms to inform ongoing content strategies.
  • Innovation and Trend Analysis: Remain informed about the latest SEO trends, algorithm changes, and best practices, proactively applying new strategies to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Content Quality Assurance: Assist in developing a process to ensure content meets high editorial standards and aligns with SEO objectives, balancing readability with optimization.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in SEO, copy editing, content strategy, or a related field, with a focus on optimizing content for search engines.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with editorial teams and technical writers.
  • Strong interest and enthusiasm for the AI/ML sector.
  • Ability to identify content gaps and opportunities for creating educational content that resonates with our target audience.
  • Forward-thinking mindset to build new processes that support team growth and scalability for new products and initiatives.
  • Technical aptitude to learn and understand our products and the developer-focused content we produce.
  • Capability to track and analyze relevant metrics, employing a data-driven approach in strategy development.
  • Curiosity and an open mindset, with strong instincts to recognize when deeper analysis is needed to understand content performance.
  • Experience in conducting experiments to validate or invalidate working theories, with a willingness to learn from both successes and failures.
