As a key member of a dedicated and skilled team, you will tackle manufacturing challenges across all phases of the product lifecycle. In your role as a Manufacturing Engineer, you will collaborate closely with program teams and production units, transforming designs from initial concepts into fully operational hardware. Throughout the manufacturing journey, you will play a vital role in identifying and implementing strategies to enhance quality, minimize costs, and streamline build sequences and timelines.

Your responsibilities will include partnering with design engineers to develop and manufacture engine valves that meet the rigorous demands of our engine programs. The hardware you work on may encompass pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrically actuated valves utilized in high-pressure and cryogenic environments. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the future of space exploration, requiring a steadfast commitment to ensuring safe and reliable human spaceflight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, innovate, and implement new manufacturing techniques or refine existing ones to enhance quality, reduce costs, and optimize production schedules.
  • Translate engineering concepts, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware.
  • Create comprehensive manufacturing work instructions to clearly outline production processes.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Define and support repair and rework processes for valve hardware.
  • Design, procure, install, and integrate specialized manufacturing equipment.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure timely and budget-compliant production, processing, packaging, and delivery of hardware and equipment.
  • Document non-conformances and implement corrective actions through root cause analysis.
  • Lead hardware configuration management and maintain traceability throughout the entire build and testing process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or related fields) from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment that supports evolving design iterations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in component fabrication, precision assembly, and testing using diverse methods and materials.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering models, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Strong mechanical system design aptitude and hands-on fabrication experience.
  • Experience in designing, measuring, modifying, and monitoring manufacturing processes.
  • Comfortable utilizing computers and engineering software.
  • Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and project management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to build trust, maintain positive relationships, and foster an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or asylee.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Direct experience in valve manufacturing and manufacturing engineering across various industries (e.g., rocket engines, jet engines, gas turbines, oil and gas, automotive).
