Role Overview

This position is situated within Blue Origin Operations, which encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes support for Manufacturing and Supply Chain across all Blue Origin facilities.

As a vital member of a dedicated team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will be responsible for creating an integrated manufacturing system that utilizes cutting-edge manufacturing techniques to design and produce advanced space propulsion systems. In collaboration with manufacturing and facilities teams, you will oversee the process of identifying manufacturing and facility requirements, employing Lean methodologies, and generating crucial insights for the efficient development and execution of advanced manufacturing processes. Working alongside facility automation engineers, process engineers, design and analysis engineers, machine operators, enterprise tool developers, and equipment vendors, you will pinpoint needs and opportunities for data, tools, equipment, and workflow automation. Your contributions will significantly influence the future of space exploration, necessitating your unwavering commitment and meticulous attention to detail in ensuring safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee manufacturing-related projects.
  • Meet targets for production rates, cycle times, and lead times in assigned work centers.
  • Support production through scheduling, budget management, resource allocation, and performance analysis.
  • Drive process improvements using Lean Manufacturing principles, engineering economic analysis, and statistical methods.
  • Enhance operations through ergonomic assessments, capacity planning, and recovery strategies.
  • Develop integrated systems through value stream analysis and production systems design.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in assembly manufacturing settings.
  • 5 years of experience in factory flow and process modeling.
  • 5 years of experience leading continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data mining.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and familiarity with data analysis tools (Python, R, SQL).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to build trust and maintain professional relationships.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degrees in Operations Management, Construction Management, or related fields.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Experience in transitioning from development to production.
  • Background in aerospace manufacturing or facilities planning.
  • Experience in human-rated space flight production.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes and materials.
