Our production support engineering team serves as the vital link between manufacturing and design. This team collaborates across engineering programs throughout the product lifecycle, focusing on manufacturability assessments, non-conformance analysis, key characteristics evaluation, and engineering change support for the production process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the manufacturing team on the assembly and installation floor, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications, resolving discrepancies, and conducting component acceptance testing.
- Act as a hands-on engineer and liaison among design, testing, operations, and manufacturing stakeholders.
- Investigate discrepancies to determine root causes and take charge of implementing preventive and corrective measures.
- Provide feedback on design to enhance manufacturability and support design definition.
- Recommend improvements to enhance quality, streamline operations, and reduce costs.
- Support the product through design and operational reviews by evaluating and contributing to the development of necessary documentation.
- Offer insights to design teams to lower product costs while ensuring manufacturing considerations are integrated.
- Deliver design support for testing and manufacturing challenges.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and materials & processes teams to create technical process specifications that facilitate the build process.
- Assist manufacturing engineers with demonstrators and process capability assessments.
- Guide vendor selection and provide support during product manufacturing to maintain production quality and compliance.
- Address technical vendor issues as requested by supply chain and reliability engineering teams.
- Support make/buy decisions as needed.
Structural Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise in designing for the manufacturing capabilities within the industry and at Blue Origin.
- Oversee the repair and rework of a wide range of aerospace structures, including welded aluminum and composite materials.
Fluids Systems Responsibilities:
- Offer technical expertise on the vehicle's pneumatics and cryogenic propellant subsystems, along with associated ground support equipment.
Mechanical/Actuated or Fluids Systems Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized knowledge on either the pneumatics/cryogenic propellant or hydraulics/mechanical subsystems of the vehicle and related ground support equipment.
Avionics Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to avionics hardware, software, or firmware.
General Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional engineering experience.
- A minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) and its application in design.
- Proven experience in transitioning products from design development to manufacturing and production.
- A desire to engage hands-on, both independently and collaboratively, throughout the product lifecycle.
- Strong organizational and project management skills to prioritize multiple concurrent tasks.
- Proficient digital literacy with the ability to quickly learn and utilize various software tools as necessary.
- A successful history of working within cross-disciplinary teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive professional relationships.
- A passion for space exploration and flight.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Structural Qualifications:
- Experience in a structural liaison role, ideally including analysis of metallic and/or composite structures.
- Working knowledge of aerospace hardware, including fasteners, adhesives, and coatings.
Mechanical/Actuated or Fluids Systems Qualifications:
- Experience with the operation, diagnosis, and repair of hydraulic or fluid systems and hardware.
- Familiarity with hydraulic or fluid systems and components such as valves, filters, regulators, pressure transducers, fittings, pumps, actuators, and sensors.
- Understanding of the principles and hazards associated with the safe operation of high-pressure systems.
Avionics Qualifications:
- Experience with the operation, diagnosis, and repair of avionics systems and hardware.
- Familiarity with cable/harnessing, circuit board fabrication, assembly, and repair, or avionics box builds.
- Knowledge of IPC and other industry electronics avionics design standards.
- Understanding of the principles and hazards associated with the safe operation of high-voltage systems.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in transitioning products from design development to manufacturing and production.
- Familiarity with Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Mode, Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
- Experience with risk assessment, management, and mitigation.
- Knowledge of applicable industry standards.
- Experience in aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle environments.

Compensation: The compensation range for this role varies based on location and experience.
