Your New Role

Position Overview: The OSP Estimator is tasked with overseeing the pre-sales pipeline and generating project cost estimates related to the engineering, design, and construction of fiber and telecommunication networks. This role also encompasses estimating costs for subcontractors and material suppliers.

Key Responsibilities: The following duties are essential to the role, and reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions:

  • Promote Gudenkauf to both existing and prospective clients.
  • Establish contracts by fostering strong relationships with customers.
  • Interpret blueprints and accurately produce material takeoffs.
  • Conduct pre-surveys of job sites to assist in bid proposal preparation.
  • Create bid proposals utilizing various software applications.
  • Negotiate contracts with clients.
  • Prepare pre-construction job information sheets.
  • Facilitate pre-construction meetings with project managers and key departments.
  • Monitor job progress through ongoing communication with project managers and clients.
  • Compile post-construction job information sheets.
  • Assess equipment and labor cost information for bid preparation.
  • Analyze overall job cost data.
  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and yearly productivity reports to management.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings to gather essential job information.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Set and uphold production and job expectations.
  • Ensure the safety of employees, company property, clients, and the public.
  • Assist with additional tasks as assigned.
  • Offer feedback to management regarding expected performance based on bids.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of construction and contract terminology.
  • Utilize computer systems and relevant software (Excel, Word, Scheduling Software, B2W, etc.).
  • Conduct statistical analyses, profit calculations, and budget forecasts.
  • Interpret various technical documents and manuals.
  • Draft bid documents, RFIs, business reports, and correspondence.
  • Maintain the company bid log.
  • Effectively present information to management, employees, and public groups.
  • Identify problems, gather data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret technical instructions in various formats.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation to achieve corporate and personal objectives.
  • Lead and manage teams while being a collaborative team player.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in OSP, Engineering, or Construction project estimating.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fiber engineering and construction methods.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to explore new methodologies.

  • Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with all organizational levels.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • HCSS Training.
