POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Project Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager and the project team in achieving organizational objectives. This position involves overseeing and directing assigned construction projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to budgetary constraints, and effective resource management. The project management team is committed to maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Project Manager in managing the overall project workflow from initiation to completion.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and field personnel to promote and maintain a safe work environment.
- Review contract documents and understand project scope during the turnover process.
- Support project documentation management, including insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and correspondence.
- Ensure all project documents are stored in the designated document control software.
- Verify that the correct drawings are distributed to the field team.
- Assist in preparing billing formats as required by contract documents.
- Support the project schedule by tracking completion dates and resource requirements.
- Request purchase orders for major equipment and subcontractors, indicating shipping needs and expected delivery dates.
- Facilitate material takeoffs in collaboration with trade supervisors.
- Participate in necessary meetings to discuss scheduling, delivery, work plans, job progress, and solutions to challenges.
- Assist in project accounting and monthly billing processes, ensuring timely collections.
- Work with supervisors to address project safety through regular discussions and site inspections.
- Gather information for scope changes and collaborate with the project team for pricing adjustments.
- Support field personnel during project closeout procedures.
- Collect as-built documentation from the field and coordinate with the VDC team for CAD requests.
- Escalate critical issues to the Project Manager with proposed solutions.
- Meet project site onboarding requirements as stipulated by contractual obligations.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are preferred:
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the construction sector.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Familiarity with construction industry standards and documentation practices.
- Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and other mechanical or construction software.
- Experience with project management and document control software.
- Familiarity with construction financial software.
