Job Summary:

The Laminating Machine Operator is responsible for operating the laminator in a safe, effective, and efficient manner while complying with established quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Engage in training and actively participate in the STOP Safety Program to support APC's goal of achieving a zero-accident rate.
  2. Prepare materials for current and upcoming jobs to ensure efficient machine operation.
  3. Troubleshoot laminator issues and maintain proper adhesive weight specifications.
  4. Utilize ei3 to load process conditions onto the machine and document necessary process data.
  5. Accurately flag rejects in master rolls for subsequent operations.
  6. Manage process condition parameters and maintain records.
  7. Monitor pumping systems to ensure correct mix ratios.
  8. Comprehend and apply all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  9. Ensure adhesives are mixed according to specifications.
  10. Assist in mounting impression/transfer sleeves during changeovers.
  11. Interpret and utilize information from job jackets, print spec sheets, and m-specs.
  12. Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties related to the laminator.
  13. Successfully power up the machine and manage set-ups/changeovers.
  14. Continuously monitor production and adjust the laminator to optimize productivity and quality.
  15. Understand quality standards and act on any out-of-spec data from quality assurance tests.
  16. Complete necessary quality checks and documentation.
  17. Familiarize with the bar code system for accurate inventory control.
  18. Attend all scheduled meetings related to Continuous Quality Improvement, safety, and departmental updates.
  19. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  20. Travel for business purposes as required.
  21. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or related fields such as printing, laminating, or bag making.
  • Acceptable prior work history.

Candidates should possess the following skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
  • Mathematical skills for basic calculations and interpreting data.
  • Problem-solving abilities in varied situations.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and independence in work.
  • Fork truck license preferred.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and depth perception.


Work Environment:

The work environment involves exposure to moving mechanical parts and potential fumes. Hearing protection is required due to high noise levels.
