Position Summary:
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is tasked with developing and executing a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with the organization’s business objectives and supports its growth trajectory. The CTO plays a vital role in fostering technological advancements, defining the digital strategy, and ensuring the effective execution of technology projects within the organization. This executive position is responsible for establishing and maintaining efficient and reliable technology operations, including systems infrastructure, network management, data governance, and security protocols to ensure high performance, uptime, and data integrity. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of technology and the specific challenges faced within the behavioral healthcare sector, along with a proven history of leading technology teams, driving innovation, and managing large-scale initiatives across diverse geographical locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Formulate and implement the technology strategy to support the company’s overall mission and business goals.
  • Oversee the design and execution of robust technical frameworks, ensuring alignment with business needs, security protocols, and industry best practices.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the technology team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
  • Align technology initiatives with organizational objectives, including enhancing client care, improving operational efficiency, and facilitating business growth.
  • Develop and manage the technology budget, optimizing resource allocation and ensuring cost-effective solutions.

Technology Oversight:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of technology solutions tailored to our growth objectives.
  • Supervise all system designs and modifications in system architecture.
  • Ensure the reliability, security, and resilience of the organization’s information systems, data, and devices.
  • Maintain current software licenses and oversee the management of hardware and software licenses.
  • Guarantee the reliability, security, and scalability of all technology systems and infrastructure with a cloud-first approach for both local and remote operations.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends, assessing their potential impact on the organization.

Innovation and Development:

  • Drive the creation of new products and features that meet the needs of clients, providers, and stakeholders.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation within the technology team, promoting experimentation and creative problem-solving to foster growth.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify technology solutions that can enhance operational efficiency and patient outcomes across various sectors.

Team Leadership:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing technology team and supporting vendors.
  • Establish clear objectives and performance metrics for the technology team, providing ongoing feedback and support, utilizing remote collaboration tools as necessary.
  • Manage technology budgets and resources effectively, ensuring optimal allocation and utilization to support growth and regional needs.
  • Provide supervision, support, and coaching to team members, including:
    • Recruiting, onboarding, and ensuring continuous training requirements and compliance are met.
    • Conducting 1:1 and team meetings to discuss successes, challenges, new projects, innovations, and organizational changes.
    • Delivering timely coaching and disciplinary actions as needed.
    • Completing performance evaluations for team members within designated timeframes.
    • Maintaining team members' timecards in the Payroll system, ensuring accurate hours are recorded, overtime is managed, and paid-time off requests are addressed promptly.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure all technology solutions adhere to relevant regulations and standards, including HIPAA, PCI, GDPR, and other data protection laws.
  • Implement and oversee robust security measures to safeguard sensitive patient data and organizational assets.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to understand their technology needs and requirements.
  • Communicate technology strategies and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders, including presentations to the Board of Directors and investors.
  • Act as a liaison between the technology team and other departments, ensuring alignment and effective communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills/Competencies:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Ability to communicate and write clearly and professionally is essential.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from patients, referents, and the public.
  • Ability to think strategically and translate business objectives into technology initiatives.
  • Proficient in risk management and data security of digital assets.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to the behavioral health sector.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate with individuals via phone, electronic correspondence, and in-person.
  • Capability to operate in occasionally noisy environments.
  • May be required to stand, sit, stoop, bend, and lift/move up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to work for extended periods while seated at a desk and using a computer.

Mental/Social Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate effective collaboration and respect for all clients/patients and staff, including those from diverse backgrounds.
  • Maintain a positive, friendly, and welcoming demeanor with staff and clients across all facilities.
  • Utilize professional communication when addressing issues with clients or staff.

Additional Information:

  • Must pass a comprehensive background check.
  • This position is remote and requires the ability to perform all duties and responsibilities from home.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in senior technology roles, preferably within the behavioral health sector.
  • Leadership experience is essential.
  • Experience in growth-stage companies operating across multiple regions is strongly preferred.
