Mortgage Sales Consultant

at Morty

About Morty

Morty is dedicated to transforming the traditional mortgage sector by enabling individuals to shop, compare, and finalize any mortgage option from various lenders entirely online. Acquiring a home represents the most significant financial decision for many people. We believe that securing a mortgage should be as straightforward, contemporary, and transparent as purchasing any other product online. Our goal is to create the first fully digital marketplace to facilitate this process.

Founded by a diverse group of professionals from the mortgage industry and skilled software developers, Morty is backed by a remarkable array of investors and advisors, including Thrive Capital, Lerer Hippeau, Prudence, and Techstars, who have supported companies like Oscar, Compass, Lemonade, Slack, Airbnb, Stripe, Dropbox, Casper, and Warby Parker.

Recently, Morty secured a $25 million Series B funding round, achieving a valuation of $150 million.

Who We Are Seeking

We are in search of a bright, resourceful, and independent individual to join our expanding sales team. You should possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), enjoy engaging with prospects, and take pleasure in connecting individuals with shared interests.

This position offers a valuable opportunity to enhance your sales expertise and learn from experienced professionals in a dynamic, early-stage startup environment.

Your role will involve engaging with our clients and advising them on their mortgage choices while simultaneously assisting us in developing a scalable, repeatable product and sales strategy that can eventually serve millions of homebuyers. Each client is unique, and you will need to be both creative and analytical to become a subject matter expert and devise suitable solutions.

Key Responsibilities - Mortgage Sales Consultant:

  • Become a mortgage authority: Understand the intricacies of the mortgage industry, from comparing and analyzing various mortgage options to grasping the broader real estate landscape and our role within it.
  • Convert incoming customer inquiries.
  • Serve as the approachable, knowledgeable representative of Morty to our clients, communicating through various channels and guiding them through their home purchasing journey.
  • Effectively communicate Morty's value propositions to potential customers.
  • Develop and implement systems and processes to standardize our workflows, ensuring consistent service and expertise for every client.
  • Manage and monitor a comprehensive customer sales pipeline to prioritize tasks and enhance conversion rates and customer satisfaction over time.
  • Act as the voice of the customer to the Engineering, Product, and Customer Success teams, providing mortgage expertise as needed.
  • Support loan officers in managing their customer sales pipelines to prioritize tasks and improve conversion rates and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist loan officers with daily responsibilities, including responding to inquiries, scheduling calls, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with partners to ensure seamless loan closures.
  • Help clients resolve issues encountered while using the Morty platform and website, reporting these issues to the engineering team, suggesting improvements, and tracking resolutions.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in finance, business, or technology (academic or professional).
  • A minimum of 1 year of sales experience; customer service experience is a plus.
  • A commitment to assisting clients with one of the most significant financial decisions of their lives.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a knack for engaging with people.
  • A willingness and ability to learn quickly; you are a self-starter with a positive attitude towards all tasks.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks without requiring micromanagement.
  • Enthusiasm for joining a startup and the dedication to achieve results.

Note: This position provides an opportunity to become a licensed mortgage broker. Depending on prior experience and performance, the transition to full licensure can take anywhere from 4 to 16 months. We will support you in your studies and celebrate your success after the exam.

Benefits:

We offer comprehensive benefits, including a 401k plan, unlimited paid time off, a casual dress code, and free health insurance (medical, dental, and vision). Additionally, we provide public transportation benefits and pre-tax plans for commuting.

Morty is committed to building a team that advances our mission for the benefit of homebuyers nationwide. We recognize that work patterns have evolved, and we now offer team members the flexibility to work either full-time or part-time, either in our office or remotely. While each team can establish their work schedules, we request that working hours overlap significantly with Eastern Time to maintain connectivity.

U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Information (Completion is voluntary)

Individuals seeking employment at Morty are considered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, veteran status, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
