Your Role
We are in search of an Engineering Program/Project Lead to oversee a varied portfolio of studies for a vital high-security Department of Defense (DoD) National Security Space client.
This program portfolio encompasses a combination of analysis, modeling, and hardware demonstration initiatives that are dynamically assigned by the sponsor.
Each sub-study typically spans 1-2 years, aimed at informing US Space Force acquisition strategies and future technical risk mitigation efforts.
The selected candidate will also be expected to contribute technically to one or more of the sub-study initiatives.
The work is conducted at TS/SCI levels, with occasional special program tasks.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you may be tasked with:
- Operating in a dynamic, high-security setting to deliver essential analysis, modeling, and technical risk reduction capabilities for National Security Space.
- Ensuring that customer-directed and funded initiatives within the program are executed and delivered as per agreements.
- Collaborating with the Sandia Chief Engineer/Technical Lead and Business Lead to monitor, guide, and track efforts, both technically and financially.
- Partnering with the sponsor and Chief Engineer to define new study directions and opportunities.
- Reporting program status, issues, risks, and successes to customers and upper management through regular reporting mechanisms.
- Transforming customer directives into proposals, contract actions, and funding with the Business Lead.
- Coordinating with Program and Information Security staff to secure the necessary facilities and capabilities for program execution.
- Identifying staffing and capability needs to meet customer deliverables and collaborating with management to address these needs.
- Providing technical contributions such as modeling, testing, analysis, and experimental design to one or more sub-study efforts.
Qualifications Required
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Physics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering).
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience managing or leading DoD or Intelligence Community programs for US Space Force or other National Security Space entities.
- An active DOE Q clearance (or equivalent) and the ability to obtain and maintain an SCI clearance designation.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, including upper management, in written and presentation formats.
Preferred Qualifications
We desire candidates with:
- Ten (10) years of experience in program or project management, particularly on high-security classified programs.
- Certification in project management (PMP or equivalent).
- Certification in Systems Engineering/Technical Management.
- Experience managing projects with budgets ranging from $50k to $1-5M.
- A demonstrated ability to author technical papers and present complex information effectively.
- The willingness to travel as needed for meetings with sponsors and key partners.
