Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Information Systems Architect to take on a senior or principal role, focusing on Information Technology (IT) initiatives within the Nuclear Deterrence Modernization Programs.
The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge in security plan accreditations, IT systems management, computer networking, and video teleconferencing systems.
This position entails leading a team of IT professionals and providing strategic guidance. The ideal candidate must excel in managing multiple projects at various stages of development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute IT solutions, including system configurations and upgrades.
- Oversee IT security plans, including communications security (COMSEC) and Archer Plans development.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for intricate IT challenges, encompassing hardware, software, and network issues.
- Manage IT procurement processes to ensure the acquisition of essential hardware and software.
- Ensure adherence to security standards and actively participate in relevant meetings.
- Provide strategic direction for IT infrastructure projects, including property accountability and classified reapplication processes.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected candidate will be required to work onsite. Minimal travel is anticipated for this role.
Salary Range
$109,300 - $217,400
Note: Salary range is estimated, with actual compensation determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
Qualifications Required:
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Information Technology or a relevant STEM field, plus one year of directly related experience; or a Bachelor's degree in the stated field with five years of directly related experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
- In-depth understanding of Windows operating systems on enterprise-approved devices.
- Knowledge of systems accreditations for secure information systems.
- Experience supporting operating systems on National Instruments PXI chassis and controllers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DOE Q clearance or DoD Top Security clearance.
- Experience with SRN/SCN Operational Technologies Zone applications.
- Experience as an Information Systems Security Official (ISSO) for classified systems accreditation.
- Cyber Security Representative certification is advantageous.
- Experience with interconnecting disparate systems via Authorizations to Connect approvals.
- Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
- Willingness to engage in new IT project development as requested.
- Extensive familiarity with Sandia's IT infrastructure is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated project management skills in IT contexts.
About Our Team
The Information Technology team is dedicated to supporting the Nuclear Deterrence Modernization Programs by coordinating, deploying, and managing IT hardware, security plans, and compliance. Our responsibilities encompass designing and implementing IT solutions, troubleshooting complex issues, and overseeing procurement processes, ensuring reliable and secure support for both office and field-testing environments.
Security Clearance
Sandia is mandated by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review, including checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
