Founded in 2007, our headquarters is located in Pittsburgh, PA, with a dedicated propulsion and testing facility in Mojave, CA.

We invite you to become a vital member of our Safety & Mission Assurance Team within the Operations Department as a Configuration Control Expert. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting and executing our configuration and data management processes that are integral to Astrobotic's operations. This position involves significant collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that documentation is accurate, current, and traceable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, prepare, and verify data, documentation, and engineering releases and modifications.
  • Develop and implement plans for configuration data management requirements, maintain configuration records, and utilize electronic systems to oversee configuration and documentation status.
  • Manage and uphold the configuration of engineering products, including specifications, drawings, bills of materials, and associated documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Oversee the review of released engineering change data and documentation activities to ensure compliance with configuration management procedures and policies.
  • Identify and document product baselines, configuration items, and their attributes, establishing naming conventions for proper identification and tracking.
  • Implement change control processes to evaluate, review, and authorize configuration changes, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and customer specifications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage change requests and assess impacts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of product configurations, changes, and their statuses, generating configuration status reports as needed.
  • Conduct configuration audits, including physical configuration audits of flight builds, to ensure compliance with established baselines, specifications, and regulatory standards, identifying and resolving discrepancies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5-10 years of experience in configuration management.
  • Strong understanding of configuration management principles, methodologies, and industry standards (e.g., CMII, MIL-HDBK-61A, AS9100).
  • Proficiency in configuration management tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering specifications and quality requirements in an aerospace context.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the aerospace sector.
  • Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP databases, and content management systems; experience with SharePoint and JIRA Confluence is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with aerospace, space, and defense industry standards and specifications related to design, production, and management systems is preferred.
  • Certification in configuration management (e.g., CMII certification) is a plus.
