The Automation and Instrumentation Specialist will spearhead the design, management, execution, upkeep, and resolution of issues related to operational networks, data historians, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and web-based services. This position encompasses network oversight, performance evaluation, standardization, and internal client assistance, while coordinating with various facilities, internal stakeholders, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Management: Develop, configure, and troubleshoot network systems to sustain, back up, and enhance performance, including network infrastructure, firewalls, services, data networks, HMIs, historian servers, data integrity, and PLC functionalities.
  • PLC Assistance: Provide support in diagnosing and programming PLCs, with a focus on Rockwell Contrologix, Compact Logix, and Wonderware operator stations.
  • Wonderware Maintenance: Oversee and resolve issues related to Wonderware Operator Station systems (InTouch, System Platform, InTouch Anywhere, Historian).
  • Data Management: Administer Process Data storage, manage user access, plant networks, and data backups.
  • Web Services Support: Maintain and troubleshoot Process web services, including downtime tracking, customer interfaces, and operator portals.
  • Documentation Development: Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including standards, configurations, network schematics, and address tables.
  • Advanced Control Development: Assist in the creation of new control systems and cloud infrastructure for advanced process management.
  • Data Backup Management: Execute and uphold backups of essential data, systems, and applications.
  • Workstation Oversight: Ensure the maintenance of existing control workstations and the deployment of new systems as necessary.
  • Control Systems Engineering: Collaborate with production and engineering teams to design, implement, and enhance control systems for safety, compliance, productivity, efficiency, reliability, and quality.
  • Project Oversight: Manage project control programs, functional control specifications, and resource allocation.
  • System Commissioning: Commission electrical and automation networking systems, ensuring vendor compliance with defined scope and functionality.
  • Vendor Collaboration: Engage with equipment and system integration vendors, ensuring that documentation and deliverables meet established expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline; or an Associate's degree with relevant experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in IT/OT, networking, electrical, instrumentation, configuration, and implementation, preferably within a heavy or production industry.
  • Certifications: Preferred certifications include CCST, CAP, networking, security, Microsoft, and Cisco.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in process control instrumentation, network protocols, web services, Windows, Cisco, Checkpoint, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Aveva Intouch (Wonderware), RSlogix programming, Kepware, and Windows environments (7/10/server/datacenter, VMWare/VSphere), along with network configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, C, C++, and Java is advantageous.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel up to 20-50%, including overnight stays and extended assignments during critical operational periods.
