Job Overview:
The Controls and Instrumentation Specialist is tasked with the comprehensive development, management, execution, upkeep, and resolution of various operational networks, data historian servers, Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and web services.

Key responsibilities encompass network surveillance, performance evaluation, the formulation and application of standards, and internal client support along with fault/problem management and resolution. The Specialist will collaborate with production facilities, internal stakeholders, and contractors as needed to meet the outlined objectives.



Key Responsibilities:

Provide assistance to North American Operations in the enhancement of both new and existing network systems through programming, design, and troubleshooting aimed at maintaining, backing up, and optimizing performance concerning network infrastructure, firewalls, services, data networks, HMIs, historian servers, data integrity, and PLC operations.

Support fellow Automation Engineers in the troubleshooting and programming of PLCs, focusing on Rockwell Contrologix, Compact Logix, and Wonderware operator stations and historians.

Act as the primary contact for any disruptions related to network and computer equipment associated with operational networks and computer systems. Facilitate the maintenance and troubleshooting of Wonderware Operator Station systems, including InTouch, System Platform, InTouch Anywhere, and Historian. Assist in the upkeep, enhancement, and troubleshooting of Carmeuse Process Data storage, related data client users, plant networks, and backups.

Support the design, enhancement, and troubleshooting of Carmeuse Process web services, including:
- Downtime management
- Customer interfaces
- Operator portals

Documentation Development:
- Create, update, and maintain system documentation, including standards, configurations, network diagrams, and address tables.
- Assist in the development of new controls and cloud infrastructure for advanced process controls.
- Execute and maintain backups of all critical data, systems, and programs.
- Maintain existing control workstations.

Configure and deploy new workstations to sites as necessary. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to design, implement, and optimize control systems, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, productivity, efficiency, reliability, and quality of products and systems.

Generate, review, and approve project control programs and functional control specifications. Direct and coordinate internal and external resources assigned to projects. Oversee the commissioning of electrical and automation networking systems. Ensure systems received from vendors meet scope requirements and that functionality and documentation are complete. Meet user expectations with a focus on functional effectiveness, long-term reliability, and ease of maintenance. Interface with equipment and system integration vendors, expediting documentation and deliveries. Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or an Associate's degree in Engineering/Computer Science with relevant experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT/OT, network, electrical, instrumentation, configuration, and implementation, preferably in a heavy/production industry.
- CCST and CAP certifications are highly regarded. Network, security, Microsoft, and Cisco certifications are preferred.

- Proficiency in process control instrumentation, network protocols, web services, Windows, Cisco, Checkpoint, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with various Man-Machine Interface programs, particularly Aveva Intouch (formerly Wonderware).
- Experience with RSLogix programming and software, Kepware, Windows 7/10/server/datacenter, VMWare/VSphere, and Checkpoint network configuration and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with traditional programming languages is a plus, including Python, R, C, C++, and Java.

- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills; ability to utilize root cause analysis for troubleshooting.
- Willingness to travel up to 20 to 50%, including overnight stays and extended assignments during critical construction and start-up phases. Periodic off-hours support may be required.
