Assistant Controller - Various Locations in the U.S.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Howmet Aerospace Inc. is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Assistant Controller.


The Assistant Controller will collaborate closely with Plant Controllers to oversee daily accounting operations and facilitate the month-end closing process, along with the preparation of financial reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

This role will also involve contributing to the formulation of financial strategies and forecasts, as well as analyzing operational performance.

Key responsibilities will include cost accounting, inventory management, standard cost adjustments, and overseeing the operating budget and forecasts.


This position is crucial within our organization, offering the chance to influence our operations significantly and gain visibility within the Engines division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support General Accounting tasks, including financial reporting, management of fixed assets, inter-company transactions, and daily expense evaluations.
  • Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling ledger accounts, and contributing to the establishment of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
  • Help establish and oversee standard costs for products, and analyze MRP reports related to inventory, cost absorption, and variances. Manage and evaluate standard costs, BOM, and routers.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly business reviews and Business Unit Staff meeting materials.
  • Assist in financial, internal, and governmental audits to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct monthly assessments of internal controls, including SOX compliance, utilizing Audit and self-assessment tools (ASAT) to ensure adherence to corporate standards and document findings through an online platform.
  • Support the controller in forecasting and budgeting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis as required.
  • Assist the controller in monitoring and analyzing Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Key Financial Indicators (KFI) to identify inefficiencies in operational processes and recommend improvements.
  • Provide analysis for budgets and projects related to capital expenditures. Assist the controller with financial payback and ROI evaluations for capital projects, as well as post-implementation reviews of completed projects.
  • Engage in the company's continuous improvement initiatives to identify opportunities and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Participate in special projects for plant, division, and corporate management.


Basic Qualifications:
* A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Accounting is required.
* A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
* Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
