Key Responsibilities

You may also take on project management duties, including staff oversight and development, as well as mentoring responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading a department with a focus on mentoring, training, and career development for team members; overseeing departmental administration; assessing workload; recruiting talent; fostering company culture; and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Generating, securing, and managing project work from existing and new clients in areas such as stormwater management, watershed planning, or water resources.
  • Overseeing project delivery, including planning, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract oversight.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships to encourage repeat business.
  • Identifying business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing relevant proposals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a related field (required).
  • Advanced degree in a related field (preferred).
  • Professional registration (e.g., P.E.) (required).
Experience and Skills
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental consulting or a comparable combination of education and experience (required).
  • Demonstrated success in business development and project management (required).
  • Experience in managing project delivery, including planning, financial oversight, change management, risk management, and contract management (required).
  • Certifications or additional training in erosion and sediment control inspection and wetlands delineation (preferred).
  • Experience in civil infrastructure design, including drainage, grading, green infrastructure, and low-impact development.
  • Experience managing permitting, planning, compliance, and environmental oversight for linear energy infrastructure projects (required).
  • Experience conducting environmental site assessments for NEPA compliance (required).
  • Familiarity with NPDES MS4 permits, NPDES MSGP, and NPDES GCP (preferred).
  • Strong writing and communication skills (required).
  • Fieldwork and travel may be necessary.
  • Proven ability to build, grow, and lead a practice and team (preferred).
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred).
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).
