About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Geosyntec Consultants. As a key member of our geoenvironmental and geotechnical practice, you will play a critical role in supporting our operations in the Boston area from our Acton, MA office, with a hybrid or remote work schedule available.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead geotechnical engineering analyses, including slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic stability, and seepage;
  • Develop and manage instrumentation monitoring systems;
  • Manage project/task management and proposal preparation support;
  • Prepare engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications;
  • Conduct fieldwork associated with design and construction services;
  • Manage multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule expectations, ensuring quality standards on project deliverables;
  • Manage the overall delivery of projects, including project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management;
  • Steward and build client relationships to secure repeat business;
  • Develop business opportunities with new and existing clients and prepare associated proposals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field;
  • Advanced degree in the same field (preferred);
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.);
  • At least 10 years of directly relevant experience in a consulting environment or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software (e.g., slope stability);
  • Knowledge of numerical modeling tools;
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed;
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred);
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
